Im Jahr 1982 in Medjugorje angekommen – ein Jahr nach dem Beginn der Erscheinungen der Heiligen Jungfrau Maria – war Pater Slavko Barbaric eine der markanten Persönlichkeiten unter den Priestern, die die Seher betreuten und die Pilger empfangen haben.
Spezialist in Religions-Pädagogik und Psychotherapie zeigte dieser brillante Franziskaner eine unermesslich grosse Liebe für seinen Nächsten.

Er verbrachte sein ganzes Leben damit, die Botschaften, die die Seher von der “Fridenskönigin” erhielten, zu verbreiten.
Am 24. November 2000, oben auf dem Krizevac, als er wieder einmal für die Kirchgemeinde und die Pilger den Kreuzweg predigte, hatte er einen starken Schmerz in der Brust und musste sich bei der 14. Station auf einen Stein setzen. Dort erinnert uns eine Gedenktafel daran, dass er dann das Bewusssein verloren hat und seine Seele in den Ewigen Frieden eingegangen ist. Sein Herz hatte alles gegeben!
Am nächsten Tag sagte die Jungfrau Maria zu der Seherin Marija: «Euer Bruder Slavko ist im Himmel geboren und er betet für Euch.»

Egy évvel a jelenések kezdete után, 1982-ben helyezték a medjugorjei plébániára Slavko Barbarić atyát, aki az egyik meghatározó és kiemelkedő alak volt a látnokokat körülvevő, és a zarándokokat fogadó papok között. Padre Slavko arrivò alla parrocchia di Medjugorje nel 1982, un anno dopo l’inizio delle apparizioni della Madonna. Fu una fgura memorabile e luminosa fra i sacerdoti che assistevano i veggenti e accoglievano i pellegrini. Specialista in pedagogia religiosa e psicoterapia, fu un francescano brillante, dotato di un amore immenso per il prossimo.
Sempre impegnato a pregare fra il Podbrdo (la collina delle apparizioni) e il Krizevac (la collina della croce), o a dare conferenze all’estero – era un vero poliglotta -, toccò il cuore di decine di migliaia di persone, soprattutto di giovani e bambini: sapeva infatti pregare con il cuore, come richiesto dalla Madonna, e aveva una fede ardente.
Trovava comunque il tempo di avviare varie opere di carità, fra cui il “Villaggio della Madre”, di accogliere gli orfani della guerra in Bosnia-Erzegovina, e di scrivere numerose opere, che poi sono state tradotte in una ventina di lingue e vendute in milioni di copie.
Dedicò tutta la vita a far conoscere i messaggi dati dalla Regina della Pace attraverso i veggenti di Medjugorje.
Il 24 novembre 2000, sulla cima del Krizevac, mentre animava, come sempre, la via crucis con i parrocchiani e i pellegrini, avvertì improvvisamente un dolore al cuore e si accasciò a terra, all’altezza della quattordicesima stazione, perdendo conoscenza. Un memoriale ricorda il punto in cui, a 54 anni, rimise l’anima a Dio.

I restrained myself from bursting out laughing faced with the puzzled look of my interviewer and noting once again that it is not easy to explain why, since September 1989, I dedicated my life to the Virgin Mary in a place where unexplained and inexplicable events take place, where six visionaries say they have been communicating for years, every day, with Heaven.
My encounter with Medjugorje was a turning point in my life, but it did not happen by accident. Neither you nor I are where we are by accident at the present moment. Life is a wonderful adventure if only we take the trouble to really live and not just accept our fate.
As a young girl, I wanted to study psychology and theology, but I only managed to attend a school for tourism. However, I could not sit idly by waiting for the world to change itself; I wanted to actively participate in saving the world. So I organized tours!
